Lodge Douglas No.1557
was erected &
consecrated on Saturday 27th June 1959 ... |
East Kilbride was designated a new town in 1947
and since then many Glasgow eastenders have
moved to this town situated in the south side of
Glasgow. A number of Masonic Lodges meet in
East Kilbride, one such lodge is Lodge Douglas |

...at the AEU Hall in
Bosfield Place, East Kilbride.
The Hall was packed to capacity facilities were augmented by two large tents pitched outside the Hall, which provided cloakrooms.
Strange how these stories develop for I happen to be very friendly with
David Dick and I recently found out that he is a founder member of Lodge
Douglas.

Twenty-five years later along with myself,
Jas Turnbull, a Bridgeton boy now living in
East
Kilbride, attended Lodge Douglas's
25th Anniversary celebrations in 1984.
