Cubie Street was named after Adam Cubie, a local pottery manufacturer.
The Telephone Exchange was built in 1910 by architect William Thomas Oldrieve (1853 - 1922) the building is built in an Edwardian Baroque composition and in August 2004 was given Category C Listing.
The two-storey building, plus basement, is formed in an L-shaped plan. The facade to Cubie Street is composed of a Portland Stone base, rising through the central entrance to a curved cornice with wreath motif, eaves detail and window surrounds. This is sharply contrasted with red brick infill between the window elements. The asymmetric elevational composition is punctuated by an arched pend opening to the north- east end.
Above the entrance is a datestone which bears '1910' and the inscription 'TELEPHONE EXCHANGE'. The remaining elevations are faced in white painted harling.
Following the Crownpoint Sports Complex development in 1986, this building stands as the only building on Cubie Street.
From 1958 until 2013, the building had been the home of the Royal Mail sorting office for the east end.
The delivery bay extension to the south gable and the extension housing the toilet facilities to west were added during this time.  In 2014/2015 the building was refurbished and is currently being used as a creative studio & office space rental.

July 2010, John Robertson, Glasgow  CUBIE STREET POST OFFICE BUILDING  100 yrs old
Dear webmaister I am a postal worker who works at cubie street delivery office. This year the building is 100 years old and is the only remaining building in cubie street.I have been doing a small history project on the building and the street.I hope to have a small exhibition within the building for 3 days at the beginning of september. This project includes annfield primary school and i really like your class photos of the school.I would be very grateful if i could use one of these photos to display at the exhibition as this will be open to the local public also any other information on the school would be much appreciated.I look forward to your reply.

Webmaister: I have given John some photos from GlescaPals for his exhibition which took place on 1st - 2nd Sept.2010.
