Dalmarnock School Hall c1916
A class of approximately 47 children having PE
(remember some children may be absent) with 2 male members of staff.
Notice also that a few of the children have bare feet.
Some pictures are on the wall and a large poster for the Savings Bank of
Glasgow in Ingram Street.
The School Board encouraged pupils to open up bank accounts often starting
with a penny.
At the rear of the hall, on the wall is a large electric
bell - while along the far side wall is a rack containing barbells!
Remember them? The Board granted this rack to the school in 1894 (
the original letter from Mr.McIntyre, the Headteacher, is still in the
archives)
My thanks to Dr.R.Winters for this information, husband of former headteacher Marjory Winters
