Brigton boy
Frankie Miller

Frankie was born on 2nd November 1949 in Bridgeton, Glasgow.
Born and brought up at 38 Colvend Street with his parents Kathy & Frank and his two older sisters Letty and Anne.
He attended Sacred Heart Primary then Sacred Heart Secondary school known locally as Pirn Street School. He was an alter boy in Sacred Heart Chapel yes this Brigton rocker!!!! He also played fitba for the school team and Harmony Row Boys Club.

See Frankie's school fitba photo taken c1959.

He first became aware of the power of Rock and R&B through his mother’s record collection. She had a fondness for Ray Charles while his older sisters introduced him to Little Richard and Elvis Presley. He identified instinctively with Little Richard’s flamboyant aggression. “ The music was alive, exciting, I loved it. I realised later that I could get my own aggression out through music. R&B and Soul Music, I just knew was what I really loved”. He started writing songs at the age of nine after being given a guitar by his parents.

Frankie suffered a massive brain haemorrhage in New York on August 25th 1994. It should have killed him but he has shown remarkable courage to claw his way slowly back to health, after spending 15 months in hospital. With massive support from his partner Annette and here is the good news after all these years he is releasing a new CD, of  previously unreleased material recorded in the 1990‘s

3 Jan.2006 I received an email from Frankie's record company .... extract......
Hi Will.........we run a small independent record company and are about to release a new album from legendary Bridgeton boy, Frankie Miller (album ad attached). If you're familiar with Frankie's previous work, you'll know that several of his songs pay homage to Bridgeton and his music company is named Bridgeton Music. Frankie has fallen in love with an image of Bridgeton on your website and would love to use this as part of the cover artwork.
The image they were looking for and did indeed use was a painting by John Boyd called "reflections"

Here at long last, is an album of previously unreleased material recorded in the 1990‘s. The album showcases Frankie’s legendary vocal talents as well as focusing on Frankie the songwriter.
One number, You’re The Star has already been a 1995 hit single for Rod Stewart. The album features appearances from, amongst others, The Eagles’ Joe Walsh, Nicky Hopkins of The Jeff Beck Group and Ian Wallace (King Crimson / Bob Dylan), who alongside Chrissie Stewart made up the band Fire And Brimstone
The numbers included here from this line up include the much sought after Guilty Of The Crime. Co-writers on the album include Will Jennings (Eric Clapton / Celine Dion) and Jerry Lynn Williams (Eric Clapton).
Frankie the interpreter is highlighted on the album’s two cover versions, The Rose the song made famous by Bette Midler in the film of the same name and He’ll Have To Go previously immortalised by country legend Jim Reeves.

The album cuts a path from acoustic ballads to out and out rockers via country and soul tinged tracks, encapsulating Frankie‘s wide variety of musical styles.

From Bridgeton, Glasgow, Scotland via international success across America and Europe
it’s been a Long Way Home.

Hi Webmaister I have a brilliant album of Frankie Miller's called "Full House". ma favourite tracks "Love Letters and Jealous Guy" He went to my school, although I didn't know him at school, John and I met him about 25 years ago in "The Prince of Teck" in Earls Court and I told him he went to my school, he was lovely and he and John were talking about guitars and chord changes and all that for ages, a lovely man. I will most certainly buy his CD. Aw Ra Best Nell.

.... my partner John and I had the honour of meeting Frankie Miller in 2002 when I played with the Johnstone Pipe Band. We took part in a tribute CD recording (on the track Caledonia) and also played on stage at the Barrowland with Frankie and his guests, what a night, and what an experience! The shivers are going up my spine just thinking about it. I'm in the photo kneeling and John is wearing the grey suit.

Frankie Miller Tribute Recording
The band took part in the recording of a tribute CD to the legendary Glasgow born blues singer who is fighting his way back to health after a devastating brain hemorrhage in 1994. The band's contribution to the CD was to perform during a recording of the song 'Caledonia' on which the lead vocals were performed by Fish. Frankie and his partner Annette were there during the recording and it was a pleasure meeting them, and also working with everyone else in the studio. The band would like to wish everyone involved in the Frankie Miller Tribute the best of luck to its success.
The band's session went very well and the CD was released to coincide with the tribute concert on Saturday 7th September at the Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow. This entailed performing during a stage change and then joining everyone on stage for the Caledonia finale which finally took place at 2:15am! Backstage passes were available for all band members which gave us the chance to rub shoulders with many of the other artists including the main man himself, Frankie Miller.

I used to play in a band, guitar front vocals, played in various types over the years doing covers, mainly the pub and club scene, i was playing with a three piece me on guitar and vocals, neil murray on bass and tony mcauley on the drums, we were booked to play at the Celtic club in fleminton street, springburn, and the night was going well, when a wee wumman came up to me and asked if i knew who was in, i said i didnae, she said frankies in, i said frankie who, she said frankie fn miller thats who, i looked about the club but couldnt find him, then after a wee while he approached the stage, i shook his hand and offered him my guitar,
He sang buddy hollies rave on, the old rugged cross, and finally pulled the place appart with "darlin", he spoke to me later on and it was great to relate to one of our own, so my claim to fame is, the great man used my guitar, mic, my heart gets sore when i see documentaries of him in his height and how he is now, frankie rocks fvorever.
"frankie who, frankie fn miller thats who"

Frankie if you ever do look in here, you are sadly missed, on the music scene I remember every xmas whilst visiting your sister here in baillieston you always popped in to the Argyle bar and and you never hesitated when asked to sing and you were a "DARLIN"
