    Page 1  Page 2
Brigton boy Frankie Miller

Frankie was born on 2nd November 1949 in Bridgeton, Glasgow.
Born and brought up at 38 Colvend Street with his parents Kathy & Frank and his two older sisters Letty and Anne.
He attended Sacred Heart Primary then Sacred Heart Secondary school known locally as Pirn Street School. He was an alter boy in Sacred Heart Chapel yes this Brigton rocker!!!! He also played fitba for the school team and Harmony Row Boys Club.  See Frankie's fitba photo taken cc1959.

He first became aware of the power of Rock and R&B through his mother’s record collection. She had a fondness for Ray Charles while his older sisters introduced him to Little Richard and Elvis Presley. He identified instinctively with Little Richard’s flamboyant aggression. “ The music was alive, exciting, I loved it. I realised later that I could get my own aggression out through music. R&B and Soul Music, I just knew was what I really loved”. He started writing songs at the age of nine after being given a guitar by his parents.

Frankie suffered a massive brain hemorrhage in New York on August 25th 1994. It should have killed him but he has shown remarkable courage to claw his way slowly back to health, after spending 15 months in hospital. With massive support from his partner Annette and here is the good news after all these years he is releasing a new CD, of  previously unreleased material recorded in the 1990‘s

3 Jan.2006 I received an email from Frankie's record company .... extract......
Hi Will.........we run a small independent record company and are about to release a new album from legendary Bridgeton boy, Frankie Miller (album ad attached). If you're familiar with Frankie's previous work, you'll know that several of his songs pay homage to Bridgeton and his music company is named Bridgeton Music. Frankie has fallen in love with an image of Bridgeton on your website and would love to use this as part of the cover artwork.
The image they were looking for and did indeed use was a painting by John Boyd called "reflections"

Here at long last, is an album of previously unreleased material recorded in the 1990‘s. The album showcases Frankie’s legendary vocal talents as well as focusing on Frankie the songwriter.
One number, You’re The Star has already been a 1995 hit single for Rod Stewart. The album features appearances from, amongst others, The Eagles’ Joe Walsh, Nicky Hopkins of The Jeff Beck Group and Ian Wallace (King Crimson / Bob Dylan), who alongside Chrissie Stewart made up the band Fire And Brimstone
The numbers included here from this line up include the much sought after Guilty Of The Crime. Co-writers on the album include Will Jennings (Eric Clapton / Celine Dion) and Jerry Lynn Williams (Eric Clapton).
Frankie the interpreter is highlighted on the album’s two cover versions, The Rose the song made famous by Bette Midler in the film of the same name and He’ll Have To Go previously immortalised by country legend Jim Reeves.

The album cuts a path from acoustic ballads to out and out rockers via country and soul tinged tracks, encapsulating Frankie‘s wide variety of musical styles.

From Bridgeton, Glasgow, Scotland via international success across America and Europe it’s been a Long Way Home.
