City Public Senior Secondary School, Townhead, Glasgow

The school was built in 1901 and was originally known as Provanside Higher Grade School.
Later the name was changed to City Public Senior Secondary in the 1940's.
Apart from the Glasgow High School it was the only school allowed to have the
City's Coat of Arms on its badge.

I added these old school photographs taken approx in 2001 for my Glesga Pal Marion McCaig who now lives in New York, USA ........see her old class photograph.....webmaster

.

Extract from messageboard March.2003,  Marion McCaig ( nee love ), New York, USA.
".............My pal Nettie and I used to walk to school together---up John Knox St, passed the Cathedral, across Castle St to the Provand's Lordship and up on to St James's Rd, right along passed Collin's Printing factory until we came to the wee lane that's showed in the photograph, up we went and in the girl's gate and there we were at the school........Now that I think of it, we took a historic route every school day without being aware of it.
Thanks again webmaister I know you must have spent a LOT of time and effort into this and I am indeed grateful. Now I can sign myself off as Your Grateful Glesga Pal....Marion
