Picture Halls...." kin a go tae the pictures Mammy?"

 .

Langham Hall Pictures

    .

Poster photo kindly supplied by Frank Watson a contributor to the  Surviving Cinema website

.

This was a short lived cinema in an existing hall, open 1912 as Glass's Glorious Bright Pictures.
It was ran by the manager, Herbert Glass who advertised showings twice nightly at " Peoples Popular Prices".

.

The building has been completely modernised and is now a work shop...

January 2006

It is situated in Broad Street near the junction of Orr Street and in fact nearly backs onto the Olympia Cinema at Bridgeton Cross..

View looking into Broad Street from Orr Street

Interesting footnote : directly opposite the old picture hall building, where the trees are, there used to be a tenement building and my Granny's sister Rubina Lewis (nee Rankin) lived there with her husband John and family.
More Broad Street

.

My thanks tae Glesga Pal and film buff Norrie McNamee for his help with this webpage Jan.2006
